Well, I suppose a lot of blogs start just this way, not knowing where to start.
I've been a Computer Science teacher for 10 years. There are fewer & fewer students taking Computer Science.
The Computer Science that I took at University 12 years ago is not the Computer Science of today.
I went from the Computer Science classroom to a Spec Ed classroom, more specifically a classroom for developmentally challenged students. I am so fortunate to have had this opportunity. Who would have thought that I would have such a drastic career change?
It has not come without some challenges. Big challenges. I'm a secondary school teacher. My students are developmentally between 9 months and 10 years old (and that is just a guess). There are only 5 students.
I started in September 2008. I had so many questions: Where do I program? What are my next steps? What resources are there? I attended the "Expanding our Boundaries" conference this week and learned so much that will help me as a teacher.
